Priorities
General
Paul is running to bring a focus on problem-solving and community engagement to the county commission. He believes that local government should be focused on the real everyday issues that affect Livingston County families, not partisan issues. If elected, Paul will bring his results-oriented attitude to the commission to address the real issues, by listening to all perspectives and considering all relevant data.
While these are Paul's initial priorities, he wants to be attuned to our community's priorities and wants to hear from you. Fill out the community input survey here!
Infrastructure
Infrastructure refers to any part of the built environment that impacts the community. The county commission needs to leverage existing grants and state/federal funds to prioritize the following:
Roads and bridges
Accessible transit infrastructure, including buses and safe crosswalks
Trash cans
Utilities, including high speed internet, water, and electricity
Energy efficiency
Clear Air and Water
Livingston County is blessed with abundant natural resources, which is one of the reasons our community is so special. To retain our status as a conservation haven, the county commission should do the following:
Coordinate closely with the state on PFAS and other water contamination issues
Monitor air quality and consider improvement options (e.g., paving dirt roads)
Maintain township and city control over siting of projects that threaten air and water quality
Work with localities to expand access to park and nature areas
Child and Elder Care
As so many of us already know, child and elder care can be unbelievably expensive. While comprehensive solutions to this challenge will take state and federal action, the county commission can do its part by doing the following:
Support area high schools in enabling workforce training for students interested in careers in care
Work with localities to attract new child and elder care facilities to the community
Collaborate with regional working groups to develop and implement additional policies
